New version of StorURL - 2.6.1

A new version of StorURL is now available. I have fixed some problems and added a few features that were asked for by users. Below are the major things I changed:

Cleaned up the link scanning utility so it handles errors better. It now will inform you if a site has merely timed out instead of giving an “unknown error.” Usually re-scanning the site will result in it working properly. It also highlights these timed out sites with yellow instead of the red when it is really no longer a valid link.
Added a timeout option, so you can choose how long you want StorURL to wait for a response before marking a site as timed out. You can shorten it for broadband connections and lengthen it for higher latency connections like dial-up, satellite, cellular, etc.
Added a Copy URL to clipboard option on the right-click menu for the link. This allows you to copy the URL if you need to paste it into a document or email or whatever.

As always, you can download the latest version a few different ways. You can download the new installer from the information page, directly from this post, or use the built-in updating option on the Help menu. Hopefully these fixes will help you use StorURL more productively.

New version of MultiFile Replace - 0.1.2

A new version of MultiFile Replace is now available. The version has been bumped to 0.1.2. This new version now supports case-sensitive searching and replacing. You can get it from the main information page or directly download the installer or zip file.

I just posted a new version of StorURL. It has a major build release, but it doesn’t have any major changes in it. I fixed some crashes and data loss that occurred when dragging a favorite URL from the right panel into its own directory in the left panel. I also fixed the auto-updater, as I noticed that it wasn’t launching the new version of StorURL after the update was complete. That was more of a nuisance than anything critical. I also disabled the ability to create sites and sub categories under the All Links pseudo-folder. It is a read-only folder and shouldn’t have allowed that to happen. As always, you can download the full installer from the StorURL information page, or click the direct download link. It is not recommended to manually download and install the update zip file for this version, as it might break the installer with the major version change and all. And the internal installer should work perfectly fine for downloading the latest version.

On a side note, I have been getting a lot of downloads for TrueIP 2.0, but nobody signing up for the free service. I know the registration page was broken the first few days, but it is up and fully functional now. The joys of beta applications. =)

New Online Application: TrueIP Online

While re-writing TrueIP to include more features, it occurred to me that it would be nice to be able to access a webpage containing a list of all my computers with dynamic IP addresses. With this application, it would be easy to log into the site from anywhere in the world and view the listing. So I built a new online application called TrueIP Online. It is in a very early beta stage, but the current features are fully implemented. If you have the need to track one or more dynamic IP addresses remotely, then TrueIP Online will probably help you tremendously. Over the last week I re-wrote TrueIP using the .NET framework. I have added support for computers behind broadband routers. It also has the ability to send the IP address to FTP servers, e-mail recipients, and my new free online application called TrueIP Online. I will post more about the new online application in its own news update. You can also just have the application pop up a local notification if you just want to monitor your IP address locally. If you just need to check your IP address one time, you do not need to install the application, just visit the TrueIP result page. So, if you are a previous user of TrueIP or think that it might help you out, please download the newest version or visit the information page to learn more about it.

New Application: Repeat Phrases

After discussions with a friend in a help desk position about his company’s in-house software sucking so badly, I decided to write a replacement for him. The program is very simple, but very useful for people in tech support or help desk positions. It’s called Repeat Phrases and allows you to copy blocks of text with a single button click. I added some extra features to my version of the application, like images on the buttons, so you can see out of the corner of your eye what you are clicking, and the ability to dock the application to any edge of any screen that is available to the system. I find it very useful, and I hope that you may find it useful as well. To download, you can visit the information page for the application or download it directly.

New version of StorURL - 2.5.98

Another update for StorURL. Added some help features and an easier way to use an external editor for the style sheet data that is used when exporting categories to HTML documents. Fixed an issue with the updater batch file that runs which caused it to fail if the executable name is changed from default.

As always, you can download the file from the StorURL page itself, or use the built-in updater to update to the new version. You can also download the update zip file if you know what you are doing and replace your current executable with the one included in the file.

New Application: MultiFile Replace

I wrote a new application this weekend. I needed a way to easily modify multiple files for the website simultaneously. The program is called MultiFile Replace. It scans through a directory that you specify, including sub-directories if that option is checked, and replaces with in all the files it finds. You can specify the file filter that you want to scan, so if you only want to change text files or html files, it is easily done. You can find more information and download it from the application’s main page, or download it directly. I think it’s simple yet powerful enough to be used by people that update a lot of “static” content on a regular basis. This is version 0.1.0, meaning it’s very new. If you have any ideas or features for the application, or have problems using it, please leave me a comment or contact me from the contact page.

New version of StorURL - 2.5.97

A new version of StorURL has been released. Fixes include better handling of invalid URLs in validity scans, and removing the ability to edit properties when viewing All Links, since it would cause all sorts of crashes. You can either download the full installer here, download the upgrade zip file here, or here, or use the built in update mechanism if you are using 2.5.96 or higher. There are some incompatibilities with versions previous to this because of my web host changes last year.

I uploaded a new installer for StorURL. The version is now 2.5.96. It fixes some issues when importing files from older versions of StorURL. It also has updated code to get the latest updates from the HazteK Software website. Moving to my new host caused some issues with the updating mechanism, breaking any automatic updates. The full installer is available at http://www.haztek-software.com/files/StorURL_2.5_Install.exe. If you want to just download the updated binary file, you can grab it from the update folder at http://www.haztek-software.com/update/StorURL.2.5.96.zip or StorURL 2.5.96 Update. Just extract it to the StorURL 2.5.95 folder and it will be upgraded.
