I decided to bring StorURL Online back up. I wasn’t planning on running it anymore, since it wasn’t used by very many people and required a bit of php and mysql h4×0ring to get back up on my new host. But, I changed my mind. So if you are new, please email me and I will send you the registration link. If you are a user that is already registered, everything should be identical to before it went down. All data has been preserved.
I have also added a search function. You can now search for websites that might interest you that other people on the site are also interested in. It only searches publicly marked websites, so don’t worry about your secret links being found via search. If you don’t check the public box, it won’t be searchable! Right now the search only looks at the description field, but it may later include url or title searches. It just didn’t seem that useful to me to implement that. If you think otherwise, let me know.
So that’s it for now. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send me an email. I am considering putting up a comment section on the site again, but that will be in the future. I have to figure out a good way to keep the spam bots from posting garbage all over it.

Ok, here’s the latest information. I’ve decided to cut back on the dynamic aspects of the website. I converted everything over to basic HTML/CSS with no dynamic tracking or counters. It is a very low bandwidth website now. There are very few images, except screenshots and the title image. I tried to design it without using tables at all. I have integrated the advertisements better into the design so they are less intrusive.

I’ve been kicked out of my free data center hosting. I had to bring the server into my house, but Verizon blocks incoming port 80. Currently I have a redirect set up so that all traffic going to www.haztek-software.com is redirected to www2.haztek-software.com:81. It kinda sucks having to host the page on port 81, since it’s not standard, but, I have no choice unless I want to go to another data center. Eventually I will remove all the dynamic content from the website and publish it with a cheap hosting company, but for now, this is the way it is going to be.

There is a utility on the Microsoft website that will check your system to see if it is Windows Vista compatible. It is a good utility, but requires you to install it on each system you want to check before running it. I recommend you install the application on one computer, then copy the contents of the folder it was installed to to a memory stick to run in multiple locations. It does not require an install to run properly, as long as you have the .NET framework. I have a zip file available locally to download that can run from a memory stick.
On a side note, since I do not plan on upgrading to Vista myself, I cannot support the use of any of my free software on that operating system. Someday, in the future, possibly after service pack 2 or 3, I may upgrade, but for now, the only operating systems I can truly state that my software works on are Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003. Oh, and some of the applications written in VB6 will run under WINE.
